One figure value (less than 10 ƒÊg/ml) of 1,5-AG means wide excursion of glycemia even in near-normoglycemia.
Continuous glucose monitoring system (CGMS) performed by Dr. J. Buse et
al. showed clearly that the lower level of 1,5-AG compaired to that expected
by the value of HbA1c indicated frequent and wide excursion of glycemia
even in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus whose HbA1c level seemed
considerably good. From the figure, you will also find that it is very difficult to assess the postprandial glycemic state from only one measurement of plasma glucose after the meal. |
