NEWS

Dr. Yoshitsugu Sugiura recently expressed his intention to retire from his academic life.
He, one of the founding members of our WG, withdraws from our WG at the same time.
He supported Drs. John Todd, Tad Matsumoto, and me throughout the difficult period to establish our ISHAM-WG.
As a WG secretary, I naturally regret his retirement, however, as a person who knows him well, I wish he will enjoy fulfilling retirement life.

The Symposium Report

“Mycology and Phycology and Chlorellosis” was held in

the 20th Congress of the
International Society for Human and Animal Mycology (ISHAM) at
15:00-16:30pm on July 1st 2018, Amsterdam

The joint symposium held a successful symposium about genome analysis and molecular analysis to understand orphan microbial infections and protothecosis.
Moreover, the symposium was introduced for epidemiology and prevention for animal prototechosis. This symposium enlightened the attendance on the recent worldwide problem of these infectious disease. We are going to extend for investigation about other orphan, fungi-like microbes (eg. Helicosporidium, Rhinosporidium, Pythium, Lagenidium, Microsporidium) on this WG.

Participants were consisted of 28 persons of ISHAM2018 attendants.

We also held business meeting pre-symposium.
