After receiving her PhD in Public Health from the University of Tokyo, she started to work at Teikyo University in 2008.

Besides her research, in her role as an educator and on her experience of educational reform at Teikyo University, she also advocates improvement in education at schools of public health in Japan for the education of professionals who can have an impact on society.
