Education教育

Teikyo University Graduate School of Public Helth

is the fourth (first as private university) school of public health for professionals in Japan following Kyoto University, Kyushu University, and The University of Tokyo, as certified by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. Also, Teikyo SPH is the first school of public health in Japan independent from medical school.

From 2014, we started Doctor of Public Health program, which is the first doctral degree program designed for public health professionals in Japan (not for nurturing researchers as with traditional schools).

Teikyo SPH's education is aimed at improving practical knowledges, skills, and competencies of public health professionals. So, our curriculum is desigend for graduate students to learn while working. Itabashi Campus, a main campus for public health, has been renewed and students can study in a bright atmosphere.

Every year, students with various backgrounds (working at hospitals, companies, government, and so on and nurturing children) enter both MPH and DrPH degree programs. After graduation, they continue to work in various fields as shown in alumni career pathway.

Three keywords for education at Teikyo SPH

Teikyo SPH continues to challenge to lead education for public health professionals in the world. Teikyo SPH follows global standard of education but keep on improving our education with focusing on five core areas of public health, competency-based education, and problem-solving approach. You can find more details from ---> this page.

It is our desire that students and alumni keep on solving problems in public health by influencing individuals, organizations, and societies using communication skills, leadership, and system thinking.

Five core areas of public health

At Teikyo SPH, education is designed to learn five core areas of public health (epidemiology, biostatistics, health policy and management, behavioral science, and environmental and occupational health).
