Competencies

Professional graduate schools, which train professionals who are required to have a high level of expertise, need to develop practical skills as well as in-depth academic abilities. In particular, MPH education, which enables students to supervise and lead public health activities, requires the development of managers who have both advanced practical skills and leadership. It is important for both learners and educators to clearly define the abilities and qualities (competencies) appropriate for the profession. It is also important for the society that accepts graduates to know what kind of competencies they possess. Education that fosters competency, not just the acquisition of knowledge and skills, has been introduced into public health professional education around the world. Education in accordance with international standards is essential for the importance of practical learning and an international perspective, which is enshrined in the founding spirit of Teikyo University.
