6 November 2017 At the annual conference of Japanese Society of Public Health (Kagoshima, 31 Oct to 2 Nov 2017), MPH student, Ms Yu presented about problem in information on safety for foreign tourists at volcano. She was exempted from abstract fee. Also DrPH students, Ms Rie Funayama presented about fat-soluble vitamin deficiency among infants and Ms Masako Suzuki presented about factors associated with sick leave due to mental illness among teachers in public schools.

On 15 Septermber, 2017, The Advancing Women in Public Health & Medicine Symposium was held at Harvard University, sponsored by the Teikyo-Harvard Program.
After Keynote Address by Dr Hiroko Okinaga, Vice-president of Teikyo University, Dr Mariko Inoue (Associate Professor at Teikyo University Graduate School of Public Health) gave a talk on role of public health for women's social participation. Dr Kyoko Nomura (Adjunct Professor at Teikyo SPH and Professor at Akita Univeristy) reported about current situation for female phsicians in Japan. Details are here (in Japanese).

2 October 2017 On 28 September 2017, as a part of faculty development, Teikyo SPH invited Dr Chang-Chuan Chan (Dean and Professor at College of Public Health, National Taiwan University) and Dr Chan gave a special talk on public health education in National Taiwan University and process of accreditation by Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) in US.

16 September 2017 16 September 2017, 17:00-18:00, Teikyo SPH held a career seminar with Dr Yoichiro Homma, MD, MPH, PhD (Seirei Hamamatsu General Hospital, President of Teikyo SPH alumni association) as a guest speaker. The main topic was effect of getting MPH degree on medical practice in Japan. Dr Homma talked about his current activity including public relations using YouTube and workshops on EBM at hospital with emphasizing the importance of organizational management.

30 August 2017 Teikyo International Summer School 2017 has closed with great success.
21-26 August, 2017, 6-days lecture on Universal Health Coverage was held by Associate Professor Mariko Inoue as a part of Teikyo International Summer School 2017.
Participants from Southeast Asia and East asia together with students at Teikyo SPH and School of Medicine enjoyed discussions and group works on healthcare services using medical systems in Japan as an example. Participants also visited Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare; Public Health Centers, hospital, and special nursing home as practical training of this course.
Associate Professor Kenzo Takahashi (Teikyo SPH), Professor Munehito Machida (Kanazawa University), and Professor Kenji Shibuya (The University of Tokyo) gave lectures on the related issues.
We greatly thank all participants of this International Summer School again.

30 August 2017 Dr Akihiko Ozaki, a student at the Doctral Degree program on Public Health published a paper on activities of Dr Hideo Takano, a former president of Takano Hospital.
Dr Ozaki has engaged in social activities to support the management of Takano Hospital after sudden death of Dr Hideo Takano. This time, he briefly summarized the activities of Dr Takano for community medicine before and after disasters in Fukushima.

15 August 2017 From Saturday, 12 August 2017 to Tuesday, 15 August 2017, 4-days lecture on healthcare management was held with Professor Yoshinori Nakata as a part of Teikyo International Summer School 2017. Participants including Teikyo SPH students and participants from East Asia and Southeast Asia participated in classes actively and enjoyed discussions through group works using English.
From Monday, 21 August 2017, next course on universal health coverage will be held by Associate Professor Mariko Inoue as the last part of Teikyo International Summer School this year.

5 April 2017 Today, orientation was held for SPH students at Itabashi Campus.
As a special event for this orientation, Professor Simon Hackett (Principal of St. Mary's College, Durham University, UK) talked about current situation and countermeasures for child abuse in UK. After the lecture, SPH students enjoyed small group-work session using the cases of child abuse in Japan.

21 March 2017 Today, 2017 graduation ceremony for Doctor of Public Health and Master of Public Health courses was held. This year, Teikyo SPH has the first graduate who completed the DrPH program. The ceremony for occupational health program supported by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in Japan, followed the main celebration.
